Responsible play 101
Six concrete signs your play might be drifting from entertainment into something else — and what to do about it.
Playing on a social casino is meant to be light. It stops being light when one of these is true:
- You spend more on coin packages than you originally planned.
- You play to escape stress, low mood or boredom.
- You think about play frequently when doing other things.
- Play interferes with sleep, work, study or relationships.
- You hide the amount of time or money you spend from people close to you.
- You feel restless or irritable when you cannot play.
If any of those ring true, the most useful single step is to take a break — close the tab, install a site-blocker for a week, and revisit how you feel afterwards. Most people find the urge eases quickly with distance from the screen.
Independent help is always free. The UK's BeGambleAware runs a 24/7 helpline on 0808 8020 133, and Gambling Therapy offers multilingual online support worldwide. Talking to someone — a friend, a counsellor, the helpline — is the most reliable way to step back into balance.
